On May 23rd, 2023 at 3.30 pm Robert Jeraj, University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA and University of Ljubljana, Slovenia, will hold a seminar on "AI in the Era of Precision Medicine - Role of Medical Imaging" in DEIB PT1 Room.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is quickly entering many aspects of our lives, including medicine. However, its role and impact is still relatively uncertain. In this lecture, we’ll review potential and importance of AI-supported analytics and decision-making based on medical imaging, with specific focus on precision medicine. We will review how the key stakeholders (medicine, imaging and business communities) perceive importance of AI in precision medicine. We will report on how AI-supported image analytics can help with treatment decisions, how it can uncover tremendous heterogeneity of treatment response and complex dynamics of individual cancer lesion response, which makes it difficult to optimize therapies in the context of precision medicine. Finally, we will briefly review different methods for improving interpretability of AI tools, and regulatory frameworks for enabling adoption of AI-supported tools in medicine.
