On April 6th, 2017 a delegation from Bloomberg will hold a technical talk at 3.30 pm in the Conference Room at Building 20.
This talk will explore how Redis fits the requirements of performance and availability, will discuss the challenges that come with scaling and synchronization and how Redis can be used to augment the functionality of an existing database.
Through their contact manager, the Engineering Collaboration team in Bloomberg London maintains and designs one of the most important systems in the terminal. Their back-end provides functionality to a lot of other components, like the email client, instant messaging client or financial functions. As the number of reads greatly exceeds the number of writes, this makes their database the perfect candidate for a caching solution.
