Abstract:
Being able to react promptly and intervene rapidly in case of emergency means saving human lives, reducing costs, and preventing environmental damages. That’s why people spontaneously use social media to get information and to sometimes organize activities that would normally be the responsibility of public authorities, which might also encounter difficulties on field. TORCIA - PiaTtafORma di gestione CollaboratIvA delle emergenze – is a research project financed by Regione Lombardia to use the available web 2.0 emergency management technologies in the process of planning and controlling critical situations –accidents or natural disasters– guaranteeing the resilience of transport infrastructure.
