Luca Mainardi received the Master degree in Electrical Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano (1990) and the PhD degree in Bioengineering in 1996 defending a thesis on time-variant multivariate models of cardiovascular control. He joint the Politecnico di Milano in 2001 and he is actually in the Faculty staff of the Dipartimento di Bioingegneria as Associate Professor. His teaching activities are in the field of Biomedical Signal Processing (Lab course, Master degree) and Bioelectricity and Biolectromagnetism (Bachelor degree). He is among the Lecturers of the PhD course on Advanced Processing of Biomedical Signals and Data. He is Promoter of Erasmus exchange of the Dept. of Bioengineering towards the University of Rennes (France) and Saragoza (Spain). He is the responsible of the Biomedical Signal Processing Laboratory of the Department of Bioengineering and he is Member of the Scientific Board of the Laboratory of Advanced Radiological Analysis (LARA) at the National Cancer Institute of Milano. He is author of more than 70 peer reviewed international papers in the field of biomedical signal and image processing and hundred of conference papers on these topics. Member of the Board of GNB in the years 2005-2008, he is Chair of the IMIA WG7 on 'Biomedical Pattern Recognition' for the period 2010-2013
