The Bioengineering Area applies Engineering methodologies and technologies to research on biological systems and health sciences. The faculty and permanent staff members are supported by post-docs and PhD students, contributing to both research and educational activities.
The members of the Bioengineering research area are involved in numerous national and international research projects. The research activities are developed in 10 research laboratories and in the following interdepartmental laboratories:
CELLS - Circular Economy Lab for Life Sciences
CFDHUB@POLIMI - Laboratorio di Fluidodinamica Computazionale
E4SPORT - Engineering for Sport Laboratory
Laboratorio di Modellazione Molecolare
LuCID LAB - Live Cell Imaging
NANOMEDLAB - Laboratory of Nanomedicine
PHEEL
WE-COBOT LAB - WEARABLE AND COLLABORATIVE ROBOTICS LABORATORY
The type and number of courses in Biomedical Engineering is unique in Italy. In fact, the courses range from biomechanics to electronics, from biomaterials to cells and tissue characterisation, from biological signal and image processing to medical informatics, from bioinformatics to surgery and rehabilitation robotics.
