aims to develop a number of games with a Kinect - Robot interaction paradigm
. The project is mainly interested in children with autism disorders.
Autism is characterized by a broad spectrum of clinical manifestations including qualitative impairments in social interactions and communication, and repetitive and stereotyped patterns of behavior. 60.000.000 of people are affected of autism disorders, 5 millions of them live in Europe and 500.000 in Italy. This quantity is increasing of 70% in last ten years.
Main goal of this project is to develop children’s capability of interaction and socialization in order to improve their quality of life. This is done through games that involve interaction in front of a screen equipped by a Kinect sensor to detect movements, and an autonomous robot especially designed to achieve an effective, multi-modal interaction with autistic children.
The project is funded by Politecnico di Milano within the Polisocial framework and is held in collaboration between HOC Lab
(DEIB), and Phy.Co. Lab
(Department of Design).
