Abstract
“Connected cars", which promise to enhance our experience on the road, will require specialized data communication, commonly referred to as Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) communications. By exchanging information relevant to e.g. road safety and vehicle status, it is be possible to increase the safety of passengers.
A whole new ecosystem is developing around V2V, also enabling messages to be broadcast from stationary road sensors to nearby cars. It will be possible, for example, to receive information on road conditions, speed limits, collision alerts etc. for real time processing. It will be crucial for self-driving cars, but the safety of today's drivers can also benefit.
LTE can already support V2V even before 5G is deployed: the seminar will show some examples currently discussed for the next 3GPP release.
