2011 - DELLA VALLE EMANUELE
Within the EU project LarKC, which sees the CEFRIEL and DEI merged into a Joint Research Unit (JRU), the application for smartphones BOTTARI was proclaimed winner of the Semantic Web Challenge 2011. The Semantic Web Challenge is an international competition held annually during the International Semantic Web Conference (ISWC). Born in 2003, over the years it has been won by the most important research groups in the world about the Semantic Web: Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Open University, University of Koblenz-Landau, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Stanford University. The DEI research group in Database Management and Cefriel participated with Saltlux (a Korean company specializing in Semantic Technologies) and Siemens (the group of research in machine learning of Monaco), presenting Bottari, the application of "reality mining" for smartphones, trying to pick up signals of social media (like Tweeter) and turn them into signs of reputation about the restaurants in Seoul. The heart of Bottari, also winner of AI MashupChallenge 2011 in June, is the platform LarKC. The platform organizes: the solution of sentiment analysis and knowledge base with geo-spatial abilities of Saltlux, the stream reasoner developed by DEI, and the inductive reasoner developed by SIEMENS.
