Researchers and graduate students at the Networked Embedded Software Lab of DEIB - Politecnico di Milano, led by Prof. Luca Mottola, were tasked with developing the technology to remotely monitor the Mitreo, an ancient subterranean site of a Mithraic Temple located below the Circus Maximus in Rome. The project offered the perfect opportunity to showcase embedded sensor technology that Politecnico di Milano had developed. It also could provide an example of how technology designed to solve complex business problems could be scaled down and applied on smaller-scale IoT projects.
Microsoft Italia joined the project in a totally free form and contributed to the development of the cloud part.
