The seminar presents the work of Alessandra Melonio. In her work, Alessandra involves people in the design of new smart solutions for their environment. She started designing game solutions for computers, with therapeutic goals, and then moved on to design “out of the box” gamified solutions, such as gamified smart objects for schools. Recently, by supervising a PhD student work, Alessandra has been studying card-based and game-based frameworks for designing smart objects with people, a new prominent research area in HCI. During her seminar, Alessandra will show how her research intertwines with her teaching and project management. The seminar will conclude with an overview of on-going and possible future research directions.

 

Alessandra is researcher at Free University of Bozen. Her main research interests are on: Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design and User Experience (UX), Game design and Gamification of learning, Multimodal Interaction and intelligent user interfaces, Technology Enhanced Learning, Intelligent User interfaces: design and evaluation, Internet of Things, Internet of Tangible Things and Physical Computing.
