On July 16th, 2020, a new “Thursday Seminars – Taking a Look at the Future: a cocktail hour event“, organized by IEIIT – CNR, will take place online at 5.30 pm.
Dr. Orlando Ferrante and Dr. Matteo Rucco, Raytheon Technologies Research Centre, will talk about "Challenges in AI for avionics".
In this talk, we will introduce Raytheon Technologies and its Research Center and an initial list of challenges in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for avionics. Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX) is an aerospace and defense company that provides advanced systems and services for commercial, military and government customers worldwide. The company was formed in 2020 through the combination of Raytheon Company and the United Technologies Corporation aerospace businesses. Within its Technology and Global Engineering organization, Raytheon Technologies operates a Corporate Research Centre (RTRC), chartered with research and early development of critical technologies applicable to multiple businesses. This organization collaborates with technology leaders to develop an impactful corporate research portfolio and ensure an efficient transition of technologies to the markets. The Research Centre has a global footprint with locations in East Hartford, CT, Berkley CA, Cork, Ireland, Rome, and Trento, Italy. Among current R&D challenges, RTRC is actively involved in several research projects towards the adoption of AI in avionics. We will end the talk by discussing some of the exciting opportunities related to AI application in avionics. Some of them can be found in the EASA roadmap (https://www.easa.europa.eu/sites/default/files/dfu/EASA-AI-Roadmap-v1.0.pdf).
The event will be hold online via Microsoft Teams.
The participation is free but the registration is required to the link
