AMBER (Adaptive Management of Barriers in European Rivers), a research project funded by the H2020 European program, will produce the first global assessment of stream connectivity across Europe of all the barriers in our rivers. The project will also develop tools (impacts detection and evaluation protocols) to create an integrated management of those barriers.
The professor Andrea Castelletti and the DEIB Natural Resources Management Research Group will participate in the project, together with the Joint Research Center, in order to build the barriers’ atlas and its validation on a European scale.
The project lasts four years, and Politecnico di Milano cooperates with 20 institutions from 11 countries.
