Professor Enrico Gianluca Caiani has been appointed national expert within the Thematic Table of Integrated Physiology of the Italian Space Agency.
In the context of the Days of Academic Space Research, ASI intends to activate four Thematic Tables of national experts in the macro-areas of Life Sciences of Space interest: Integrated Physiology, Microbiology, Biological Systems of Life Support and Radiation.
The thematic groups will have the task, in particular, of supporting ASI in the following activities:
- Identification of the excellences and skills functional to the issues indicated on the national territory;
- Identification of infrastructures of potential interest to Space;
- Definition of a medium-long term national strategy;
- Identification and planning of functional experimental activities compatible with the developed strategy;
- Optimization of the Italian contribution to international activities and programs.
Each Thematic Table will be coordinated by a representative of the scientific community and an ASI representative. In order to create an adequate flow of information, as well as an adequate synergy, integration and coherence for the definition of the final papers, the coordinators will also have the task of interacting with each other on behalf of the individual Thematic Tables.
The documents produced by the Thematic Tables will finally be presented to the scientific community on the occasion of a national Workshop that will be organized for mid-2021, based on the timing necessary to elaborate the points indicated above.
In order to create a synergy and a shared long-term strategy, ASI also intends to make use of the Thematic Tables as a reference point for any further and specific consultations both nationally and internationally.
