Giulia Plotti - HOC-LAB (DEIB) - won the Innovation & Circular Economy award by ISSNAF & Intesa San Paolo with the project TRACY in New York.
TRACY is a very intelligent and nice robot who wants to teach everyone, especially children, to adopt virtuous behaviors in the field of circular economy and sustainability. This is a TJBot application, the new DIY - do it yourself - bot released by IBM's Yorktown labs. Developed in collaboration between Giulia Plotti and Research & Business IBM Italy group, TRACY is designed to be initially used for educational purposes within schools, but is a versatile tool that can be used both in home and in family contexts. Thanks to TRACY, end users will be guided step by step in creating new recycling habits: with simple instructions, every day will be offered actions and suggestions. Tracy is based on Watson services present on Bluemix platform, such as Visual Recognition to correctly classify waste images, Conversation, to interact with end user through structured dialogs, to the colored LED that can take different colors depending on parameters such as such as the correct answer to a quiz, etc. TRACY, as open source, lends itself to integration with existing applications, such as those that provide additional recycling opportunities or track household consumption and savings habits, but offering a completely new user experience.
