Abstract
A paper written in collaboration between DEIB researchers of bioengineering, clinical researchers (Sacco Hospital) and companies (Abbott Vascular), as part of a H2020 project (MusiCare), already published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, was published also by Corriere della Sera - Scienze e Tecnologie.
It is a very important study for the feasibility and effectiveness of an innovative percutaneous valve repair performed on a beating heart using a catheter inserted in the femoral vein. The repair aims to treat the regurgitation of the tricuspid heart valve, which connects the right atrium to the right ventricle. Owing to the complexity and risk of the intervention, the tricuspid valve is rarely treated with traditional surgery, as to be often called the forgotten valve.
