ANTAREX: new technologied for "green" supercomputing

Abstract
Politecnico di Milano is the Coordinator of the ANTAREX project, funded from the EU Horizon 2020 program, with the goal to find energy-efficient techniques for High Performance Computing (HPC). ANTAREX proposes a breakthrough approach to support dynamic adaptivity for applications for energy efficient heterogeneous HPC systems. The goal is to reach the performance level foreseen for the Exascale era of billion of billion operations per second.
The ANTAREX project places the Politecnico di Milano in the worldwide vanguard of the HPC research throughout the development of advanced techniques providing high-energy efficiency. The project is coordinated by DEIB professor Cristina Silvano and has received funding of over 3 million euro in the H2020 Future and Emerging Technologies program.
The international team of ANTAREX project is developing a new programming language to express strategies of adaptivity and energy efficiency in addition to the functional features of the application and innovative techniques for the dynamic management of the resources in supercomputing systems.
Currently, it is in progress the experimental phase of the research on two industrial case studies of high scientific and social relevance.
