Vodafone announces the winner of the second edition of Action for 5G the call dedicated to startups, SMEs and social enterprises that want to contribute their innovative ideas to the development of 5G in Italy. It is Artiness, an innovative start-up under the guidance of Alberto Redaelli and Emiliano Votta that remotely supports surgical interventions thanks to Vodafone's augmented reality and 5G.
Founded in 2018 by researchers and professors of the Dipartimento di Elettronica, Informazione e Bioingegneria of the Politecnico di Milano, Artiness brings augmented reality directly to support medical personnel. With a particular focus in the field of cardiovascular imaging and modeling of cardiac pathologies, the Artiness team, through proprietary algorithms and methods, has developed a solution that allows transforming a patient's specific medical images into precise and detailed 3D models viewable as holograms in augmented reality by the medical team, to support both the preparation and the execution of a surgical intervention. In addition, the project will be enriched with artificial intelligence algorithms to identify and display the medical device with real-time tracking within the 3D holographic model during the implant procedure.
