WhoLoDance (Whole-body interaction learning for dance education) is an H2020 project where Politecnico di Milano is a partner that aims to innovate the dance learning theories based on current developments in neurosciences, educational and learning theories, educational psychology and new artificial intelligence and knowledge formalization and modelling technologies. Moving in fact from the creation and/or selection of dance sequences drawn from different styles and analysing various teaching and learning methods, the dance movement is classified and analysed for the sake of developing an analysis protocol.
Using intelligent multimodal/multisensory interaction technologies, advanced interfaces for real-time training and immersive tools, the student can literally enter the Dance Master’s body that will respond to the collisions between physical and virtual body and thereby facilitate his learning.
WhoLoDance creates a digital environment that offers educators, students and choreographers the opportunity to create networking, gathering professionals from different physical spaces, and provides dance databases created through consumer-grade motion capture devices available on the market, such as MS Kinect and several others.
Scientific coordinator of the research group of the Politecnico di Milano is Augusto Sarti, DEIB full professor.
