On Wednesday 21 December 2022, the De Componendis Cifris association was officially established. The association includes Italian and foreign academics and professionals and was founded by Profs. Alessandro Barenghi, Gerardo Pelosi and Giacomo Verticale from the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering of the Politecnico di Milano.
The group takes its name from the 1466 homonymous treatise by Leon Battista Alberti, which represented a turning point in Western cryptographic technique, and has the purpose of spreading, disseminating and encouraging the study of cryptography, favoring the aggregation of scholars and Italian and foreign researchers to foster the development of project ideas and initiatives of national interest.
The planned activities will enhance the skills of the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering through the organization of scientific congresses, cycles of seminars, cryptographic competitions for students and the publication of scientific journals.
