The security level of a system depends not only on the system itself but also on the attackers' capabilities. This perpetual race is kept alive by continuous advancement on both sides. There is no winner; the side who can employ faster, better mechanisms takes the lead.  My research revolves around automatizing the security analysis approaches for binaries to minimize human intervention and scale-up analysis. While the analysis system and protection are useful, they came with flows that attackers exploit to stay undetected while carrying their activities. I analyze those flows to raise the bar before new techniques become popular among the attackers.

Mario Polino is a post-doctoral researcher at Politecnico di Milano. His research mostly focuses on ‘system security.’ In particular, he focuses on how modern systems may fail in an adversarial context.
