ACM VLCS 2017 Best Paper Award

Along with co-authors Ambuj Varshney, Andreas Soleiman, and Thiemo Voigt, Luca Mottola has received the Best Paper Award at the 4th ACM International Workshop on Visible Light Communication Systems (VLCS - colocated with ACM MOBICOM) with the paper "Battery-free Visible Light Sensing".
The paper describes the hardware and software design of a light sensor device, coupled with computational and communication cores, that operates out of the energy absorbed from light itself, with no need of batteries or other energy storage facilities.
