Mariagrazia Fugini is Professor of Computer Engineering. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from Politecnico di Milano. She has been a Visiting Professor at ha University of Maryland, Technical University of Vienna, University of Stuttgart, UPC Barcelona and has established various international cooperation activities both for research and for teaching. She teaches Information Systems classes for the School of Management Engineering in Politecnico - Como and for the School of Computer Engineering in Politecnico Leonardo campus. Her research interests are in information systems security, development and re-engineering, in E-government, in environmental risk management, and in Green IT. She participated in several European Projects like TODOS, ITHACA, WIDE and WS-Diamond, working on information system development and re-engineering, software reuse, data security, information retrieval, and business process and web application design. In the SEEMP (Single European Employment Market Place) EU project completed in 2010, she worked on designing service platforms for the Employment Market Place, with focus on security, interoperability, and web-based systems for public administrations, citizens and enterprises . In the GAMES (Green Active Management of Energy in IT Service Centers) EU project completed in 2012, she worked on metrics and green certificates for data and service centers. Currently she is involved in the EU projects: TOISE (Trusted Computing for European Embedded Systems) and ECO2CLOUDS for sustainability of applications on federated clouds. She is co-author of "Database Security" (Addison-Wesley, 1995), "Sicurezza dei Sistemi Informatici" (Apogeo 2001), “Sistemi Informativi basati su Web” (F. Angeli, 2006) and “Impianti Informatici: tecnologie e applicazioni” (McGraw-Hill, 2007). She cooperates with the Italian Public Administrations in the design of Portals of the Workfare for Services to Employment, such as Borsa Lavoro Lombardia, supporting active policies for employment, for which she has a cooperation with the Municipality of Barcelona. She cooperates with companies on security of data archiving and management systems. She has a continuous teaching cooperation with UPC Barcelona (Socrates Program). She co-authored several international publications, is in the Program Committees of conferences on Information Systems and reviews papers for international journals on security and web-based applications. She was a former member of IFIP TC11 on security as the Italian Representative. From 2009 to 2011 she has been in the Equal Opportunity Committee of Politecnico di Milano.
