Born in 1923, Since 1962 Professor of Electrotechnics at the Politecnico di Milano. In 1954 Director of the Computing Centre at Politecnico. In 1970 he proposed the European Informatic Network (COST 11). Chancellor of the Politecnico di Milano 1972-1984. Chairman (1980-1982) of the Committee for Science and Technology at the Prime Minister office for the Report on Scientific Research in Italy. His research interests are Electromagnetism, Computer Arithmetic and Architecture, Signal Processing.
