Alessandro Magnani was born in Italy, in 1986.
In 2008 he received the BSc in Electronic Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano, presenting a thesis on an optical flowmeter for the volume estimation of liquid-drops.
In 2010 he received the MSc in Electronic Engineering (specializing in Electronic Systems) from Politecnico di Milano, presenting a thesis on the development of an optical vibrometer based on self-mixing interferometry.
Since January 2011 he is a PhD student on Control Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano at the ‘Measurement Laboratory’. His main research work is related to the development of interferometric instruments for dimensional measurements, such as vibrations, large displacements and absolute distances. He is currently working on optical devices, realizing analogical circuits and DSP programming for reaching nanometres displacement resolution.
He is collaborating with CNR Biomedical Centre in Milano for studies on Digital Signal Processing of hearing-aids, and also with “Fondazione Don Gnocchi” in Milano for the development of skin-impedentiometry devices based on DSP core.
