Born in Italy on August 28, 1964, he graduated in Electrical Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano in 1990 and he received a Ph.D. in Computer Science in 1994 at the same university with a dissertation on 'Logic and Object-Oriented Specifications of large-size Real-Time Systems", advisor Dino Mandrioli.
In 1994/1995 he has been for one year Visiting Associate Professor for the PFU chair at the Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, Japan. In 1999 and 2000 he was for two months Invited Professor at the Universiteč de Marne-la-Valleč, Paris, France. In various occasions (1993, 1999/2000 in 2002, 2003), he has visited for a few months the University of California in Santa Barbara, and Washington State University (2002).
In July 1995, he became an Assistant Professor at the Politecnico di Milano. In February 2001 until April 2005, he was an Associate Professor at the Politecnico di Milano.
He is now a Full Professor at the Politecnico di Milano.
