Professore Ordinario / Straordinario
Curriculum Vitae

Born in 1957, received the "Laurea" degree in 1982. From 1984 to 1992 he joined the Italian National Research Council (CNR). Assistant professor from 1992-2001, since 2002 he is holding a permanent position as Full Professor of Electronics. From 2004 to 2006 he has been vice-Dean of the Information Technology Faculty of Politecnico di Milano.
Marco Sampietro is responsible for the activities in the fields of high-sensitivity instrumentation for the nanoscience and of molecular semiconductor devices. In particular he is designing organic photodetectors in the visible range and in the I.R. using pristine metallorganic complexes or donor/acceptor blends; he is studying the transport properties of carriers in poly-alchil-thiophenes transistors as a function of different SAM types, eventually using Al2O3 as insulator and he is investigating the properties of conductive switching molecules for non-volatile memory elements.
His group has also investigated the electrical properties of biological materials with emphasis on the electrical response of mammal olfactory receptors upon interaction with specific odorants, aiming to explore high sensitive and selective bio-sensors. To address the single nanosome, the group has developed a special AFM (atomic force microscope) that performs impedance spectroscopy measurements with attofarad resolution on nanometric areas.
He is co-author of more than 130 peer-reviewed international publications and holds 3 patents. He has been the coordinator of various national and international research projects and has been recently partner in two European projects.
