Maria Antonieta Alvarez Villanueva graduated in B. Eng. Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering in 2005, then she graduated in Mse Industrial Control Engineering in February 2007 at Universidad de Ibague with the thesis "Fed-Batch Cultivation Control" that was developed at Technical University of Denmark under the supervision of Prof. Sten Bay Jørgensen. She worked at Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral (ESPOL) , Guayaquil-Ecuador, as researcher in automatic control and on Ocean Drifter 2.0 Project, development a microcontroller based device which uses GPS and wireless communication for data transmission to measure ocean currents. Since November 2014 she is a PhD student in "Distributed Synchronization in Dense Wireless Network" of the Politecnico di Milano and her work is part of the research project in the framework of EU Project DIWINE (Dense Cooperative Wireless Could Network), FP7-O1.1. Her research of interest is regards to distributed signal processing, consensus algorithm, synchronization in wireless network.
