Intervista ad Alberto Gatto sul Nobel per la Fisica 2017

Alberto Gatto, assegnista di ricerca presso il Laboratorio di Comunicazioni Ottiche PoliCom al DEIB, è stato intervistato a proposito del Nobel per la Fisica 2017 conferito a Rainer Weiss, Barry C. Barish e Kip S. Thorne, i tre scienziati che sono riusciti a dimostrare l'esistenza delle onde gravitazionali grazie all'ausilio dell'osservatore LIGO (acronimo di Laser Interferometer Gravitational-Wave Observatory - osservatorio interferometro laser delle onde gravitazionali).
Il ricercatore del DEIB ha infatti partecipato alla ricerca del gruppo Virgo di Parigi presso il Laboratoire APC - Astroparticule et Cosmologie (Université Paris Diderot), per lo studio dell’evoluzione degli attuali sistemi di rivelazione di onde gravitazionali in preparazione della terza generazione di rivelatori interferometrici.
