Abstract

Power line communication (PLC) is a system which takes advantage of electric power lines as transmission medium, superimposing to the low frequency alternating current a higher frequency signal, which carries the information. PLC leverages the existing power line infrastructure and provides cost-effective approach for introducing intelligent monitoring and control to many applications. In this work two PLC boards with a half-duplex protocol are designed, connected and tested, taking advantage of the CY8CPLC20 chip by Cypress: a device with an integrated modem and network protocol.
