IBM awards DEI

On November 26th, 2010 at 14:00 in Conference Room DEI will host IBM for the official granting of two prestigious awards in the presence of the Rector Prof. Giulio Ballio.
Danilo Ardagna, DEI Assistant Professor within the Advanced software architectures and methodologies research group, won the "IBM Faculty Award 2010" with the project "PARVIS - Performance Management of Virtualized Systems". The research project aims to develop techniques for virtualized systems reconfiguration and integrates optimization models with identification and control techniques developed in collaboration with Eng. Mara Tanelli and Prof. Marco Lovera.
This award is highly competitive and recognizes the quality of the University research and its importance for the industrial world.
Liliana Pasquale, PhD student in PhD Program in Information Technology of the Politecnico di Milano, won the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award, in 2010 the only one who won this award in Italy.
Eng. Pasquale works at DEI with the Advanced software architectures and methodologies research group under the supervision of Prof. Luciano Baresi.
The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Award Program is an intensely competitive worldwide program, which honors exceptional Ph.D. students who have an interest in solving problems that are important to IBM and fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study. These include: computer science and engineering, electrical and mechanical engineering, physical sciences (including chemistry, material sciences, and physics), mathematical sciences (including optimization), business sciences (including financial services, communication, and learning/knowledge), and service science, management, and engineering (SSME).
The award ceremony will also see IBM Italy to introduce themselves and explain the opportunities offered by IBM to students and faculty members.
