This talk is motivated by the study of problems relating to treatment of HIV infection with a variety of therapies with the aim of limiting viral mutation and 'escape'. Motivated by this application, I will introduce a particular simplified mathematical model for mutation which gives rise to a specific class of switched positive dynamical systems. For this class of systems I will give results including optimal switching design,designs for guaranteed performance, together with simulation results for some example systems. The talk will conclude with some tentative questions raised by the analysis for clinical treatment of disease where mutation is important."
