Francesco Morichetti is a Post-Doc researcher in the Department of Electronics, Information and Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano, where he received the PhD (summa cum laude) in Information Engineering in 2008.
Since 2009, he has been Head of the Photonic Devices Lab of Politecnico di Milano.
From 2001 to 2008 he was a researcher in the integrated optic staff of Corecom (Consortium for Research in Optical Signal Processing and Switching, Milano). From 2009 to 2011 he worked as a researcher at Fondazione Politecnico di Milano.
His research activity focuses on the modeling and design of optical waveguides and integrated optical circuits on several photonic platforms (mainly glass-on-silicon, silicon photonics and indium phosphide technologies), advanced measurement techniques for photonic devices, generic foundry schemes for photonics.
He participated to several collaborative projects, among which Splash (EU FP6, FET), EuroPIC (EU FP7, STREP), Sapphire (PRIN, 2011-14), Nanocap (European Defense Agency, EDA), and he is currently involved in the projects Paradigm (EU FP7, IP, 2010-15), BioType (EDA, 2013-2015) and BBOI (EU FP7, FET, 2013-2016).
He is author of 2 book chapters, more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in international journals, more than 120 conference proceedings and 5 international patents. He is a member of the Technical Committee of the national conference “Fotonica”, of the scientific panel of Spotlight on Optics (Optical Society of America), of the Editorial Board of ISRN Optics and of The Scientific World Journal (Optics area).
